Market Commentary
Despite the lack of mop-up activity by the CBN, the Interbank call rate advanced 128bps to settle at 11.14%.

Meanwhile, trading in the secondary T-bills market turned negative, with a mixture of heavy profit taking observed at the mid-to-long end of the space, and buy-side activity at the shorter-end. Overall, average yields advanced 25bps d/d, marking a bearish close to a fairly positive week where yields declined 5bps lower w/w. The bond space also traded negative, with benchmark yields advancing 6bps d/d. However, due to mixed activity during the week, benchmark yields closed flat w/w.

Market Outlook

The CBN is scheduled to hold a PMA next Wednesday, with ?67 billion on offer. Given the trend observed in T-bills yields this week, we expect sentiment to be mixed, as system liquidity remains tight. Meanwhile, we foresee a quiet start to trading in the bond space, with investor interest on longer-term bonds likely to persist.
